Musings, out of context - II

Well, you've heard of Throwback Thursdays, now I present:

Thursday Tantrums

Thunderstorms within, raring to go
All that beckons is the peace it brings
Solitude alas, knows no friend or foe
Just like a summer bird, bereft of wings

Self made fires, that one does kindle
Laws of the land, to them, I concede
Everything, a weapon, thread or spindle
Mere hope, I have, for the tides to recede

Faults are mine, I say with audacity
Unforgiving spirit, knows no bounds
Always oozing along, fullest to capacity
By itself, it crushes all those hounds

Musings, out of context- I

Out of an ardent desire to break the shell of stagnancy and will to end the procrastination, I present before you, with a promise to blog regularly, "Musings, out of context" - an intricate wordplay of seemingly random things strung together with an abstract remote knot.

श्रवणम् [Listening]

Image result for ears

It pays to listen, to every single syllable being uttered.
It pays to listen to the nonchalant wails of a baby whose favorite toy has been snatched away.
It pays not to shy away, out of disgust, when the words are such, that are at best left unspoken.
It pays to listen to the beat of a flash mob, in spite of the grandeur of a symphony.
It pays to listen to stillness following an embarrassment, similar, if not better than sepulchral silence.
It pays to listen to the sound of a dew drops, amidst the overpowering chaos of a thunderbolt.
It pays to listen to the faintest of memories, of a tune half forgotten.
It pays to listen to the bizarre rhythms of life, ignoring the cacophony within.
It pays to listen to an endearing voice, a reminiscent cushion for all the roughness around.
To sum it up, it pays to embrace the obscurity of thought concealed by a whisper.

It is thus imperative to lend our ears "to listen" rather than "to hear", for, it propagates a school of thought that imbibes continuous learning, acceptance and channeling of - what could be otherwise divergent - ideas, ushering in an inclusive environment of macroscopic perspective. This, ultimately is the need of the hour in an increasingly heterogeneous society, which strives to harness its potential to the fullest. A verse from the Rig Veda embodies the spirit: "आ नो भद्रा: क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वतः", meaning "Let noble thoughts come to me from all directions"

Back to Scribbles

Rains, companions of solitude

Hues, vibrant - a sight to behold

Myriad scents, nasal ecstasies

Micro medleys of lullabies

All the joys, in multitude

Out there to conquer

Scaling frontiers unmarked

Waiting to break in

given a miniscule crevice

Beckons a world, no, an oyster

In thoughts aplenty, immersed

washing away the sins

In turn, purging - within and beyond

Let them wreak havoc

Knowing, they won't be cursed

Ironic, when all the splendour

Gets masked by a veil

Of collecting what's left

of unhealed wounds

sapping any trace of wonder

It's indeed numb and naive

Pulverizing every revolt

Rising above the din

A lingering sense prevails

Of treason and make-believe

This hooplah can never cease

A nonsensical anthology

a melange of antitheses

I call it. What's to be done?

To revere, or to appease?

ಹಗಲುಗನಸು ( A daydream)

This effort is a small tribute to one of my favourite art forms - Poetry

Riding the wave of change

Past few months have been plagued by natural disasters, scams and loss of great souls, icons in their own right- technology czars, musicians, a renowned Indologist- in short excellence from every walk of life.

But, every cloud has a silver lining. Around the world, the Arab Spring, which caught ruthless dictators off guard and, in parallel, renaissance of free speech, thanks to a certain Mr. Julian Assange, challenging the actions and unraveling the truths of the powers-to-be, have been like a straw to a drowning person.

Back in our own courtyard, common man’s response to the clarion call against graft in public domain has been a soothing influence on people frustrated with the apathy of bureaucracy and politicos.

Bengaluru has got its share of good news too. Namma Metro, having overcome all obstacles and delays and chugs along the tracks provided its people a sense of relief, who so far have been punished by choking traffic woes.

Something else too happened on the sidelines. ATCAG- Automated Tracking and Control of Green Assets, a brainchild of M/s Kerberon Automations, a Bengaluru based firm aims to promote cycle sharing among the residents of the city. For more on this, visit www.kerberonautomations.com/atcag.html. This is a really noble concept, keeping in mind the traffic congestion, fuel price hike. Another issue that could be addressed is the disturbing trend vis-à-vis lifestyle diseases, promoting the much needed exercise for people practicing a sedentary lifestyle. Such a system augurs well for the future of cycle as a lucrative mode of transit. Let’s all support this initiative and make sure the concept moves on to other places in the country.

Finally, I take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy, safe, fun filled and prosperous Diwali. I am reminded of a line in a Kannada song-“ದೀಪದಿಂದ ದೀಪವ ಹಚ್ಚಬೇಕು ಮಾನವ...” which literally translates to “Let ever person use a lamp to light another’s lamp, in turn illuminating the whole mankind….”

SANDS OF TIME

There is no doubt that our present is to be enjoyed to the fullest.Obstacles have to be faced head on and all every vibrant moment has to be captured and savoured.
What drives us is the FUTURE and hope that exists to make the future colourful. One needs bits of inspiration in the form of lessons ought to have been learnt and reminiscences from the past,so that our future has a sense of purpose.
War ,hatred, misguided idealogies should not prove deterrent to the feeling of amity and harmonious co-existence that have been nurtured since time immemorial. All we need is to embrace the reality with open minds and wishful hearts.

ICL

People may have their own opinions abt ICL.But I totally welcome this inititative.Persay nothing which is innovative gets accepted at first, but if it clicks, people are just after the golden goose.
I have just one reservation about ICL though;the idea seems to be borrowed from Premier Hockey League stated by IHF in 2005
